Leaden Hearts
An official selection of the Montreal Independent Film Festival, Leaden Hearts is an MSc thesis project based on the history of leaden love tokens. These coins were given by prisoners to their loved ones during penal transportation in the 18th and 19th centuries. Leaden Hearts examines the power that objects hold over memory. Through this short film, we follow Catherine as she accepts her fate by making peace with her past, a past invoked by the objects she clings to.
